Thrift Shop Packing
Every Monday, kind volunteers will help to pack the donations for the charity corner. There is usually a pot luck or makan shortly after.

Mass For The Friends-In_Need 2015
On 25th April 2015, the National Council of Singapore organised a Mass for the Friends-In-Need (FINs) at the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The Mass was celebrated by Archbishop William Goh together with some Spiritual Directors for various Conferences.
During the Mass, Archbishop William encouraged Vincentians to spread the Good News to FINs through words, actions and deeds so that they know the source of the good works.
Catholic FINs received Holy Communion during the Mass while non-Catholic FINs were blessed.
After the Mass, FINs from the Conference of the Risen Christ were treated to a Dim Sum buffet at the SwaTow Restaurant.

Visit by Father Eugene Vaz
In our weekly meeting this evening, we had a visit from
Father Eugene Vaz, and Sis. Magdalene from National Council. Father Vaz is the
spiritual director of our society. Fr Vaz feels that, although FINs come to us
seeking for financial aid, we should look beyond the financial aid and food,
and understand if there are other areas of their life that need help. We can
help them explore other agencies
to help them, eg. SSOs, education, medical, family services etc. We should also
seek to work with other organizations within the church to assist them, for eg.
sick ministry. Father Vaz also explained that there are parishioners that might be ready to help, eg.
tuition teachers who standby for teaching assistance.

Christmas and Lunar New Year celebrations
It was celebration month for the FINs as Christmas 2013 and the Lunar New Year 2014 were just about a month apart.
For Christmas, the Conference held a sumptous buffet meal and gave out red packets to the FINs. Education awards were also given out to students who improved and/or done well. Many FINs also went home with additions cash which they won in the 'tikam-tikam' lucky draw.
The Lunar New Year was a quieter affair. However a simple meal was dished out together with the given out of the traditional new year red packets.
The Conference would also like to record a word of thank to a kind benefactor for donating the mandarin oranges.
Vincentians too celebrated the Lunar New Year by gathering at out Vice-President's house. The big spread of nonya pot-luck certainly lifted the celebratory spirit.

Fund raising for Typhoon Haiyan on 17th Nov 2014
On 8th Nov 2014, the "super mega" Typhoon Haiyan made landfall in the Philippines. It caused major destruction and ruined many lives including more than 3000 dead.
Joining hands with many other organisations (in Singapore and internationally), the SSVP, Conference of the Risen Christ did a busking event in the Church hall to raise funds in aid of the victims.
The event was well supported by the parishioners and they donated generously to hymns, oldies, mandarin songs and songs in dialects. Some parishioners also joined in and sang.
The total amount raised was $2560.05.
The amount will be forwarded to the National Council of Singapore who will donate the amount to the National Council of the Philippines.
The Conference of the Risen Christ would like to thank the Fr. Sim for supporting the event. Gratitude also goes out to the parishioners of the Church of the Risen Christ and those who has helped in the event.
May God gives the people of the Philippines courage and walk with those who is relying on Him.

Agape Villlage
Agape Village when completed will have 4,200 sq meters in a 4-storey space next to the First Toa Payoh Primary School and the new Good Shepherd Place currently being built by the Good Shepherd Sisters. It will stand at the fringe of HDB’s light industrial estate and a distance away from the residential blocks.
In Singapore, you will not see beggars on the streets or hungry children scavenging for food, but the poverty gap is growing wider and there is a desperate need to connect those on the breadline to the services which can make a difference to their lives.
Tens of thousands of families are ensnared in an unforgiving poverty trap with little or no means to break free and make a better life for themselves. According to the Ministry of Manpower’s 2011 statistics, 307, 000 Singaporeans and PRs earn less than $1,500 a month. And of these, 110,000 earn less than $1,000 a month.
Agape Village will be a one-stop hub where people in need can connect to the 23 charities and services co-ordinated by Caritas Singapore, the social arm of the Catholic Church in Singapore.
Agape Village will bring together the common services of our Catholic charities under one roof – integrated case management, counselling, legal aid, medical aid, care-giver support, skills training and job matching for displaced workers and professionals, mentoring and life skills, coaching for the poor and marginalised in our society.
